Birthday party invites, no response

So ive sent out invites last Friday for my childs birthday party, there are 22 in the class, out of this only 11 have gotten back to me (only 7 can go) is this normal? I've booked a decent sized venue and feeling a bit worried, the party is in 3 weeks, not sure what to do, had planned to invite only the class but now thinking to ask cousins and a few friends kids too

Did you put a RSVP date?

Some parents are awful and RSVP at the last minute. It will come in drips and drabs. Other don't RSVP at all, which is so rude.

Is there a class whatsapp? If you had an RSVP date, send a message after the date has passed to remind parents you need to know if their kid is attending.

If there's no RSVP date, message next week and ask them to respond by X.

If there's no whatsapp group, can you speak to the parents directly to get an answer?

Its stressful planning a party and some parents drive you mad.

Didn't put an rsvp date but have to confirm food choices etc a week before

How old are the children? Last year I got my daughter to ask the friends who hadn't replied. It prompted a few more replies.

Follow up on class what's app with RSVP date.
If letters went in bags some will still be on there!

Some people are just rude & won't reply but most seem to with a prompt.

It's normal I'm afraid. I always chased them up individually

Comedycook · 09/05/2024 12:14

I think that's quite a lot of responses considering the party is in three weeks time.

This is totally normal

Normal and really annoying. I have learnt my lesson on this and now put a date for the RSVP (although people still forget/don't bother and then I always feel like I can't say no to them anyway 🙃).

If the whole class is invited then I'd put something on the class WhatsApp

11 replies in less than a week is excellent. As you put no RSVP date, expect replies up to the day before.

I think that's a really good response rate if you just handed them out on Friday and party is in 3 weeks. It's normal to get a few initially, but not final responses until maybe the week before the party and you normally need to chase people. To be honest, I haven't even looked in my child's bag since last Friday! I expect quite a few people are the same.
