Worms at Nursery

Hi Everyone,

DS’s nursery have advised there is a child with worms and they’ve come into contact with DS today (he’s 2). Now as of today we haven’t spotted anything in his nappy. Nursery didn’t specify whether this is something they’ve spotted or if child is being treated or yet to be treated. DH also didn’t think to ask these questions 🙈

Do we deworm now or when/if it happens?
I’m aware of all the strict hygiene that needs to be followed so will start on that straight away.

We also have a 3.5 month old and know he can’t take the meds yet so any advice is welcome.

Such a fun hump day topic 🙃

There are always children with worms at nursery. I'd probably be inclined to give ds a dose of ovex just to head off the possibility, though obviously if there are no living worms yet, this won't do anything - but it won't do any harm either. We personally don't go crazy with washing and hygiene, probably just be better with hand washing and wash bedding if child has confirmed case.

@mindutopia thanks for your reply. I feel inclined to give a dose too. I wouldn’t be too worried if it wasn’t for us having the baby. I guess I’ll just try to keep on top of the sharing between the boys and hope for the best. Thankfully I’ve had Ovex in the cupboard for a couple of months in case this happened to us!
