Can i take dd3 to baby group even though her sister has chicken pox or is she likely to put other babies at risk of catching it?

Dd1 has chicken pox. Can i take dd3 to baby group despite this, or is she likely to be in the incubation period and therefore likely to pass it on to any other babies (and possibly any pg mums). Reading that back, i think i already know the answer, lol.

What would you do?

I am sending dd2 into school, because lets face it, i can't keep her off because her sister has chicken pox!

I would keep baby off for now as there is a strong chance she will get it or at least be carrying it and could spread it to more vunerable mums and babies. True about your dd2 you cant really keep her off school unless she has actually got it and it is probably much better that they get it as children anyway, its not nice when your older..i had it when i was 15, it was far worse than my other sisters who were all younger than me and my mum had it same time whilst being 8mths pregnant..doc said not to worry unless very early in pregnancy or about to give birth.

You can call NHS direct but basically, the incubation period for chickenpox is 7 to 10 days and she will become contagious about 24 hours before the first spots appear.

had to cut previous message short but basically, I think it would be best for your little one not to get in close contact with babies/pregnant mums until she gets it, because she will no doubt about it. Maybe you could call your DD2's school and see what their policy is. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. Yes, of course you're right ...i think i knew it really.

Dd2's school say to send them in. Can't keep them at home on the off-chance (whether that chance is high or not).

Am kind of hoping they both get them tbh ...may as well get it all over with at once
