We're based in Northern Ireland and schools here are often associated with one religion or the other
We've just found out our DS has gotten into our first choice primary school however im starting to have second thoughts. We are lucky in that there are two good schools near us, one walkable and one also walkable just a bit further and involving a main road. We've gone with the closer school which is integrated (though predominantly Protestant) though we are from a Catholic background however both non practising (and Atheists) . The further school we didnt pick is a Catholic school so DS would be expected to partake in the sacraments, although a minority do sit them out and attend church services etc. and the catholic religion is taught for 30 mins every day.
The reason im having doubts is firstly our son would be one of few Catholics and the potential bullying, also the school is rated very good while the other is outstanding. I feel my DH really pushed for the integrated school as he is very against the Catholic church and wants DS to mix with children from different backgrounds. We've accepted the place but im wondering if it's too late to change now. Anyone been in this position?
