Hello

My daughter has now had another a and e visit for a febrile seizure. She takes around about 10 or so minutes to come around so 111 send an ambulance.
This is her third one
I just wondered if anyone had any success stories of children outgrowing them. She's almost 4 but I know if she gets sick and her temperature spikes she's going to have one and they are very scary

Hi, both of my sons had febrile convulsions, oldest only 1 when he was about 18 months old but youngest had them until he was about 7 which is apparently quite unusual. The first sign we would get of any illness was the seizure itself, after it he'd be out of it/drowsy for a few hours THEN he'd have a high temperature & be unwell with something - so different pattern from the 'norm'.
He was referred to childrens hospital for further tests but nothing found & eventually the periods in between fits grew longer & eventually stopped.
During the time he was having convulsions, I just tried to be extra vigilant keeping an eye on him & spot signs of illness or high temp & then start paracetamol etc.

Sending you best wishes, it's scary when it happens. I hope your little one grows out of them soon x
