Using travel cot in hotel?

My baby is 6 months old and we are off to Spain next week. We're planning to use the travel cot in the hotel but I've read they're sometimes really hard and/or babies just don't sleep in them? She's got a chicco next to me that is pretty light and folds into a big bag which we could take but I'd be a bit worried about it getting batted about with luggage in the hold. Anyone ever taken one on a plane? Or just get on with it and use the one in the hotel? Not looking forward to lifting her in and out the deep travel cot for feeds but I guess it's only a week.

I can't imagine bringing a next to me along, especially for only a week. I suppose you could bubble wrap it well before you put it in the carry bag. Depends how many night wakings she does. Travel cots are deep and annoying to lift them out of.

I'd probably let her fall asleep with you first and then transfer her to the travel cot. If she does a good stint that way you could co-sleep with her the rest of the night if night wakings are too frequent. That would at least get you some of your evening to yourself.
