13 month year old and comforter

Hi all!
My DS has a couple of comforters that he uses to settle himself. During the day he'll suck on the comforter's foot when he's tired or upset, he's not heavily reliant during the day. However, he uses it all night to get back to sleep, so basically there's a little foot in his mouth all night. I've taken him for his first dentist appointment and the dentist has said this could cause his teeth to stick out eventually. I'm really concerned because I have an open bite from thumb sucking. I can't just take it away from him at night, unsure what to do for the best.

We went cold turkey on the dummy for the same reason and he'd forgotten about it after 2 days if that helps?

As horrible as it sounds… if it’s going to cause him dental issues, I’d “lose” it. Might be upset for a few days, but he will be ok, kids move on, buy him something new to distract him. You can keep the comforter in his memory box.

He won’t thank you for letting him keep a comforter when he’s a teenage with dental issues.

My issue with going cold turkey is that he needs it for nursery. No way he can get through without it.
