I'll let you know when my 5 year old does

Sleep better than what?

DS mostly woke every two hours until he was 2.5. He slept through the night (9pm - 6am) for the first time at 2.5. He now wakes twice a night, once for gas a few hours after he goes up; and once around midnight when he runs to my bed. He’s awake for less than five minutes each time, and otherwise sleeps 7pm - 5am. That seems great to me, but would still be shocking for other people!

It is really hard. I’ve struggled with it so much more than I thought I would. My brain is always tired. Remember that it will end, and if you’re able to get early nights or do daytime naps, do them! Whatever makes it easier to get through.

DS1 about 7 weeks, DS2 about 2.5 years!

Mine was terrible for the first 14 months and then it was like a switch flipped and he sleeps through most nights now. Just hoping it lasts🤣

TheBeeb · 30/04/2024 20:30

Eldest didn't sleep through til he was 3.5 years. DS2 is fairly reliably sleeping through now at 20 months.

bakewellbride · 30/04/2024 20:41

Eldest 10 months
Youngest 11 months

Everything got much better after that time each time! Absolutely everything. You'll get there too op Flowers

4yo for both of them.

You get used to it. I put them to sleep in a double bed and then would go join them when they woke up.

flyinghen · 30/04/2024 20:46

1st was 9 months slept through since

2nd 5 months slept through but we have a lot more ups and downs, generally she sleeps through but some weeks or days she's up several times. But mostly sleeps all night. It's a shock to the system when she doesn't! She's 13 months now

Shelinaa · 30/04/2024 20:48

Both started sleeping through at about one.

Sleep was ok-ish from about 6 months, when we sleep trained both times.

coxesorangepippin · 30/04/2024 20:49

Ds was 3 months

DD was 14 months

🤔🥴

Thankfully this is very rare & unfortunate.

DD - slept through at 7 months
DS - has just started sleeping through regularly at 13 months, but had the odd night where he did before

How old is your baby OP?

DD1 and DD2 were both sleeping through getting 12 hours from 6 months, what has worked for us is not feeding to sleep, putting them in their cot awake so they learnt to put themselves to sleep, slowly reduced night feeds until they didn’t wake up for them anymore. Stuck to our nap schedule, which included waking them if they had been napping for too long. Made bathtime super relaxing, little massage for bed, lower our voices, mention how tired I’m feeling.
