Is this sleep regression ?

Hey fellow MNetters ! I’m mum to an almost 6 month old (born a month early so developmentally almost 5 month old). DC was doing okay sleep-wise for his age-woke up 1-2 times at night for a feed which has changed over the last week.

When DC wakes up, he is bawling more than usual (I think)-feeds sometimes completely, sometimes partially (he is formula fed)-continues to bawl (without opening eyes)-I always walked/held him for 5-10 mins till he slept previously-now, he wants to only contact nap-this typically happens between 11:30am-3am-so me and/or DH and up for 1-3 hours at night. The bawling sometimes stops when we wake DC up (though not always), sometimes with a long contact nap (though again not always. He hasn’t been a contact napper (except on limited occasions) previously so this is weird for him…

He is also fussier in the day-time (I think)-would previously play independently in play-gym with me chatting as I did chores etc but now wants me around playing with him most of the time.

Is this likely to be a sleep regression (he is trying to roll over the last week)-he isn’t teething (or so I think) ? Is there anything I need to do? I know teaching baby to self settle may help-we were working on this when things changed but this has taken a back seat now. Apologies if these are basic questions-I’m overwhelmed with the crying, the being needed a lot (I know-he does and will need me) and the more-messed-up-than-usual sleep.
