Travelling with 4 month old - clueless FTM

So this post will very much highlight that I am a FTM I have some probably quite silly questions about travelling with my baby if anyone can help! He will be 4 months when we go away in June to Tenerife.

  1. how do stop baby from burning? Of course he will be in the shade but if I want to take him the pool I will put him in a rashsuit and hat with the flap at the back but how do I protect his hands, feet and face if he is too young for sunscreen?
  2. on the plane I’m assuming he is strapped to me for take off and landing but when the seatbelt sign is off can you move about the plane with baby? As in walk down the aisle?
  3. pram. I have a baby zen YOYO can I take this onto the plane as I know it is designed to do so. If not do I check it in with my luggage?
  4. by the pool does he stay in his pram? He sits in a bouncer at home so he can look around but due to his age he can not hold his head yet so it’s the flat pram, on holiday I would like him to be able to sit up and see what’s going on…is it weird if I take his bouncer?
any other tips of things that are useful greatly appreciated! He is EBF x

I took my LO to the Canaries at 4 months - had older sibling too but in response to your questions
1 - UVA suit for the pool and shade at all times but I did use a zinc based suncream once a day for the pool on hands, feet, cheeks as an added pre caution but it’s not advised so to speak but I thought better than burning and zinc based ones aren’t as chemical

2 - Once signs are off yes you can walk around but quite frankly a pain in the bum because other passengers are going to the toilet etc and there’s the trolley services that you can’t get past with a baby so easy to entertain sat down

3 - Who are you flying with? If you don’t have a large cabin bag assigned to you, RA, EJ and J2 then you can use it until the plane doors and they’ll tag it and stick it underneath but can take it in overhead lockers if you’ve got a large cabin bag as it replaces that

4 - Mine was just sat on our knees, had a cuddle when on the lounger etc with the brolly over us. We hired a play mat for the room but I think a bouncer might be overkill by the pool and honestly they shouldn’t be in it for more than 30 mins a couple of times a day so you might not get use out of it but if you’ve got the luggage allocation then you can take it by all means

Oh and if sleeping in the pram around the pool, position well in the sun and use a snooze shade - not a towel / muslin over it to block out the light.

I found it easy with the baby but it’s not chilled and you might find yourself reading / bathing on the balcony more if you’re happy for them to sleep in the cot in room

Never put a towel or similar over a pram even in the UK as it becomes like an oven underneath. I wouldn't take a bouncer with you but see what the hotel has to borrow or prop him up in the buggy with a folded pillow behind him.
