Should I be concerned

My daughter is 16 months old and she’s babling abit she has a few words. But she seems to zone out when playing or watching tv and doesn’t respond to her name if it’s jsut us and there’s nothing going on she does respond. She plays away on her own and plays with other kids, I’ve noticed she loves cars and will play with the wheels for a wee min but then go on to play with the car. I worry about autism as my son has asd and I over think everything to do with her

Nobody can tell you. If you are concerned I’d go to your GP or HV….they will hopefully understand why you’re concerned because of family history. At 18 months though it doesn’t sound anything too concerning, I think all kids zone out when watching tv especially if tired. I’d be a bit more concerned about the name thing but again 18 months if very young still

Yikes sorry at 16 months I wouldn’t really be worried at all!

At this stage it's unlikely anyone can give any firm answer. But...make notes of all behaviours you see as if you do find yourself going through diagnostic checks later it's really hard to remember everything or when it started. If you have ongoing concerns make sure your health practitioner is aware and go from there. Autism can run in families, most of my kids and their father (and his family) are autistic x

Thanks my son had a speech delay so it was more obvious and when I kept bringing it up to the hv I was always told he still had plenty of time and his other traits were quite stubtle

I can understand you being worried if you already have one with ASD.

How does your DD do with this simple SLT progress checker?
