Hey guys. My husband was drinking Lipton peach iced tea this morning and he gave some to our 18 month old 😫 by some, I mean like half a cup. It’s the first time that he’s ever had, but how much caffeine does this have? I was trying to make him nap from 1-3pm and he just didn’t sleep!! He finally ended up falling asleep at half 3! I had no idea why he didn’t sleep but then I remembered he drank this in the morning πŸ˜‚

Very dangerous. He might grow up to be the sort of person who drinks peach iced tea.

It has 0.12% black tea extract. I doubt it has any caffeine in it. It's mainly flavoured water and sugar

Nooo I know it’s not dangerous πŸ˜‚ I was just wondering though how much caffeine it contains (if any), which is probably why he just wouldn’t go down for his nap haha. I spent 2 hours trying to make him sleep

DP drinks this loads. Inevitably our toddler wants a bit now and then. It's not crack, I don't even think about it. There are much worse things he could be drinking, like Ribena for example. Don't sweat it.

GeorgeBeckett · 25/04/2024 19:31

I think that’ll be the sugar, not the caffeine!

Black tea contains 2% to 4% caffeine on its own, a lipton 1.5L peached iced tea bottle contains 25mg..... I would guarantee this is why your child did not sleep. There is no safe amount of caffeine to give a child under 12 yo,
