Should I let my 11 month old baby sleep in this position? (photo included)

Okay, maybe I'm overthinking it, but dd has only been sleeping in that position for the last months. I didn't care before, when I placed her back correctly after she fell asleep. The problem is that lately I find her the next day in that position and some that impress me more. 😅Sometimes I find her literally sitting with her legs open and her body lying face down.

I'm not worried about her stopping breathing or something, but even though she's a flexible baby it doesn't feel like a good way to sleep. What do you guys think?

Apologies for any mistake, as English isn't my first language and thanks for reading 🙂

Yes its fine for her to sleep like that

Misthios · 24/04/2024 20:50

She's old enough to turn herself and find a comfortable position. You don't need to worry.

FLOWER1982 · 24/04/2024 20:50

Ifs he was uncomfortable she’d move or let you know I’m sure. Sweet baby.

She is OK. Make sure that the padding on the side is tightly attached to the cot bars, no chance to touch her nose or face x

Misthios · 24/04/2024 20:50

But I'd lose the pointless cot bumper.

ProjectKettle · 24/04/2024 20:51

My DD is nearly 3 and still sleeps like this! If she is comfy, she'll be fine. She can turn herself if she isnt.

dementedpixie · 24/04/2024 20:51

The cot bumpers aren't recommended once your baby is mobile as they can climb on them or they can get untied and become a choking/suffocation hazard

LovelyBitOfSquirrrel · 24/04/2024 20:52

Cot bumpers are very unsafe

mynameiscalypso · 24/04/2024 20:52

Lots of children sleep like this, I have no idea why. The cot bumpers are more of a risk than the sleeping position

nocoolnamesleft · 24/04/2024 20:52

By that age, if she chooses to turn to face down, that's fine. Though the cot bumpers are a suffocation risk.

GrazingSheep · 24/04/2024 20:52

As others have said the cot bumpers are a suffocation risk. I’d remove them asap.

gamerchick · 24/04/2024 20:53

Probably should know your thread will soon fill up with horror stories about cot bumpers.

Bairn looks comfortable, she's old enough to pick her own sleeping position I think.

SpringLobelia · 24/04/2024 20:53

Oh she is GORGEOUS!!!

Just saying. ❤

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/04/2024 20:53

There's a reason that is called 'child's pose' in yoga Grin

FuckTheClubUp · 24/04/2024 20:54

Sleeping position is absolutely fine, don’t worry. As others have said, the cot bumper is very unsafe. I can’t believe companies are still allowed to sell them. Your daughter will be fine if she bumps her head into the cot every now and again.

Not trying to scare you but do some research on the cot bumpers. I read a story from a mum who’s young baby somehow got tied up in the strings, they found him dead in the morning. My mum used to pressure me to buy a cot bumper as DD was always banging her head into the bars. That story put me off and she eventually learned to stay in the middle!

HappierTimesAhead · 24/04/2024 20:55

So cute!! This is how my 3 year old always slept as a baby. I think it makes them feel cosy.

bluetopazlove · 24/04/2024 20:55

Oh one of my sons used to sleep that and used to fart like a trooper(he's very grown up now) ha ha !
Enjoy !

Another saying get rid of the cot bumpers. www.lullabytrust.org.uk/parents-should-remove-cot-bumpers/

So warning a mum about the risks of cot bumpers on a parenting site is just a way to spread horror stories? Got ya

SouthLondonMum22 · 24/04/2024 20:57

Sleeping position is absolutely fine. Cot bumpers need to go.

Carrotcake93 · 24/04/2024 20:57

Oh wow, thank you very much for the answers, I really didn't expect the turn of the answers. We have never worried about crib bumpers, nor had I heard that they were a danger. But it makes sense. They are out tonight 😂

Sleeping position is fine to me! But Please do read all the advice on cot bumpers this is a definite no for safe sleeping

anicecuppateaa · 24/04/2024 20:58

Remove the cot bumpers. They are a sids risk.

Sleeping like that is fine, for some reason I think they do that when they are cold…..maybe that is rubbish though!

Yes, because they've been known to kill babies. Nobody is criticising. Just trying to be helpful.
