Should I let my 11 month old baby sleep in this position? (photo included)

Okay, maybe I'm overthinking it, but dd has only been sleeping in that position for the last months. I didn't care before, when I placed her back correctly after she fell asleep. The problem is that lately I find her the next day in that position and some that impress me more. 😅Sometimes I find her literally sitting with her legs open and her body lying face down.

I'm not worried about her stopping breathing or something, but even though she's a flexible baby it doesn't feel like a good way to sleep. What do you guys think?

Apologies for any mistake, as English isn't my first language and thanks for reading 🙂

DS slept like that when he was little. It’s very cute!

So warning a mum about the risks of cot bumpers on a parenting site is just a way to spread horror stories? Got ya

Tbf to @gamerchick it was a very factual statement to make OP aware that lots of people will mention the cot bumpers (accurate as they have). She didn't pass judgement on whether they should be or not.

Oh wow, thank you very much for the answers, I really didn't expect the turn of the answers. We have never worried about crib bumpers, nor had I heard that they were a danger. But it makes sense. They are out tonight 😂

Respect. Listened to advice, took it on board, problem solved. Good for you. And by the way, your little one has the best hair.

Just here for the cute photo. Didn’t disappoint - in fact, expectations were exceeded! Very cute baby.

ODFOx · 24/04/2024 21:12

I sleep like that when DH is away or I'm alone in a hotel. It's so comfy!
At your DD's age it's absolutely fine.

ODFOx · 24/04/2024 21:13

I'm late 50s btw: I say that the sun salutation sleeping pose is good for my hips!

mdinbc · 24/04/2024 21:20

I would also say he/she is cold, by the way the hands and feet are tucked in. Do you have a sleep sac?

Thank you gamerchick’s mum

Position is fine a lot start to sleep like this at around that age but the padded sides are dangerous op they can get stuck in them 😬

But I'd lose the pointless cot bumper.

Yes or replace with the breathable mesh ones which are safer

gotthearse · 24/04/2024 22:01

Babies sleep like that as that's how they were in our bellies.

My DD is 18 and still does it now 😆

unlikelychump · 24/04/2024 22:05

I realized my children were like this when they were a bit cold. It didn't seem to disturb their sleep but I did warm their rooms after I realized.

I also clicked for a cute baby pic and am pleased it was worth it. 😍

neilyoungismyhero · 24/04/2024 22:08

I actually remember sleeping like that when I was younger 70 odd years ago.. My dad
commented on it the next morning. Cute baby.

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 24/04/2024 22:10

What's the temperature in her room? My son used to sleep like this when he was too cold. I didn't realise at the time, another giveaway that he was too cold was that he'd often soak through his nappies in the night. Or it could just be that she likes to sleep that way - very cute

MotherOfDragon20 · 24/04/2024 22:14

Absolutely fine, my daughter always slept like this. Only thing to consider is sometimes they sleep all tucked up like this if they are a bit chilly. Not necessarily thought, my daughter just liked it!

GrumpyMiddleAgedCow · 24/04/2024 22:15

Well to lighten the mood (given the cot bumper has been raised and addressed) no issue with the position…. what I would say is sleeps like an angel with the secret mission of being in the perfect position to release her morning curry poop 😂🤍

BigBadBarri · 24/04/2024 22:18

So cute. Mine would sleep like this when they were too cold, her little feet might be chilly too (it’s getting down to 4-5 degrees overnight here)

MummySam2017 · 24/04/2024 22:21

Oh her bunny PJs are so adorable 😍

NeedtostopusingMNsomuch · 24/04/2024 22:23

Does she normally sleep in a baby sleeping bag / sleep sack? Mine would be cold sleeping without covers and bare feet, it’s quite cold at the moment at night

Roomination · 24/04/2024 22:25

So cute. I used to think mine looked like cute little frogs. I agree, it does look very uncomfortable, but it can’t be as so many babies and toddlers like to sleep like this. If you moved her, she’d just turn herself back if that’s what she likes.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/04/2024 22:26

How cute. My dd slept like that from a really young age.

Blessedbethefruitz · 24/04/2024 22:28

That sleeping position is prime for digestion, judging by my youngest who co sleeps with me. She moves into that position to fart and stays like it, so must be comfortable!

shenandoahvalley · 24/04/2024 22:31

Oh my, that’s brought back long forgotten memories! So cute when they sleep like this, with their bum in the air!! She’s fine and gorgeous 😍

elm26 · 24/04/2024 22:35

Glad you have removed the cot bumpers OP ☺️ my daughter has slept on her front from 6 months, I didn't sleep for 3 nights and then gave in and I called the health visitor and she said that if she's able to get into that position herself after being placed on her back then leave her to it. She's 11 months now and sleeps with her bottom in the air and her face on the mattress 😂 xx

determinedtomakethiswork · 24/04/2024 22:36

She is adorable!
