Hello,

This isn't so much a conversation starter as a big THANK YOU to all those of you who reassured me when my DS was still far from potty trained at 3 years and five months. Like everyone said, he just trained himself overnight at three years and six months and hasn't had an accident since.

And I hope this reassures anyone out there wondering what they're doing wrong because it will happen! We had tried everything - except perhaps leaving him completely to his own devices. I guess kids are just ready in their own time and you can't change their bodyclock.

xx

Hi there, I bet you are relieved, my DS is 3 yrs and 4 mths and we still can't get his out of nappies. I have tried everything from bribing him with toys, smarties, different coloured pasta shapes - you name it I have done it! He has recently started asking to do No. 2's in the potty/toilet, but not no.1s. I have been waiting for that day when he says, I don't want to wear nappies anymore mummy, I was just thinking it would be by the time he was 3. It did reassure me to hear your story - thank you. Here's looking forward to NOT buying nappies in a few months time.

Hello again Hants,
Thats reassuring to know my dd1 is 3.5 and still in nappies. (she will hold it for 13/14 hours until you put a nappy back on her!!
we are waiting a bit aswell to see- no pressure approach

Thank you for your story and yes it does help. DD is 2.9 and absolutely knows what to do etc but refuses point blank.
She gave her 3 potties to her 13 month cousin to take home yesterday because " she will never need potties " !!!

Babbi - you might be lucky and she will go straight to the toilet and miss out the potty altogether - it is a pain cleaning them out!

This is just what I need to hear - ds1 is nearly 3 and has absolutely no interest in being potty trained. But this has given me hope that he'll do it in his own good time!

Our dd4 trained in the end 2 weeks before her 3rd birthday, straight onto the toilet (yay, no potties!) no special trainer seat either, she was big enough to manage and wanted to be like her sisters. It was much easier in many ways than with the younger ones, she got the idea faster, could hold on to it for longer, and we didn't need any special equipment.
