Names of bodily parts!

My dd is 18months and starting to become very interested in body parts. She 'Helps' mummy go the toilet lots so sees my bits. When she sees daddy undressed she just points up and laughs which I have to say I find amusing:-)

What does everyone call them? I have a friend who called both her son and daughters private parts their 'wee'. I dont think that is right, will just confuse her with what you actually do at the toilet. Another called the vagina her 'fairy' Again don't like that. She like fairies in books!
Have no problem with willy just can't think of something suitable for vagina. DH says just say vagina but I think that sounds too old and formal. Don't want her coming out with that at nursery...

Thanks

my dd decided her bits were called bits and aged almost 8 thats what she still says!

We have boys so it's so much easier

We just use 'bits' when refering to mummy's bits!

I suppose there's nothing wrong with using vagina or vulva, but it is really clinical and grown-up sounding.

Equally, fairy and frou frou type words are truly awful!

We've gone with "bits" so far (ds is 2) and seems ok. Only had problem when he started demanding to see his childminder's bits and when he went round askking everyone if they had "nibbles" (nipples).

If you want the correct anatomical name for her external genitalia it is vulva. Vagina is the 'birth canal' ie it is inside and therefore not usually visble (unless you carry a speculum about your person).

I tell my dd's their 'bits' are called their vulva, but then I'm in a minority.

I am softening to fanny (although I doubt I will use it) as willy is used so much in common parlance).

There will now follow a whole tonne of suggestions in the 'fairy' ilk........
