Going back to work and working shifts

I've had two babies very close together (11 months apart). Im now due to go back to work in August after nearly two years off. I work for the emergency services and will be submitting a flexible working plan and working x3 12 hour night shifts a week. I'm one of very few people that don't mind working nights and it makes sense for us as a family as we will need less childcare and I will be bringing in more money. I have never left my babies over night apart from giving birth to my second. My eldest only wants me to put him to bed at night and still wakes up some nights and will only settle with me and not dad. I feel so guilty about going back. Any tips for dad doing the bedtime routine? Am I best leaving the house at bedtime?
