Naked method potty training - how long did it take you?

My DC is 2 years 6 months and we’ve been doing the naked method toilet training for 4 days now with only one wee in the toilet, everything else has been on the floor/nappy when sleeping.

I think he’s ready for toilet training and don’t want to confuse things going back to nappies, but I was expecting more success at this stage.

We started a few months later (2yr10/11mo) and she pretty much nailed it from the get go. She may have been ready earlier, but I'd had DC2 when she was 2yr6 and was in no mood to attempt.

I set a timer every hour to remind us it was time to try to use the potty. Also had a vast store of bribery treats to get her to go on (and stay on!) the potty. If the timer and the treats aren't working by the end of the week and he's still going on the floor, he's probably not ready. Wait another month or two (it'll be warmer then at least!) and give it another go.

Are you committed? Are you watching him 24/7? You get maybe 5 minutes after each wee before you have to be back on it and vigilant. When mine were that age I underestimated how on top of them you have to be to succeed. Once I realised that and stopped the tv and looking at my phone etc it was really quick. Maybe 2-3 days and then maybe 5-6 accidents since.

Also make having a wee really quick and fun. Make accidents clear up boring and time consuming and take them away from their game/toy to clear up.
