Hey all, im hoping that mabey someone can give me some advice or has had this problem before. My one month old has had a little sore around the anal area for a couple weeks now. When I had him to the docs they said it was just a rash and to use a wet face cloth to clean his bum and zinc oxide which i have been doing. Its still there and a little bigger now. Its not like a regular diaper rash , it looks more like an open sore, but it doesnt bother him, he doesnt cry or wine when I clean his bum.
Has anyone had this problem before? Obviousely Im going to have to go back to the docs but im curiouse as to what the heck this could be!!! Any thoughts??

I used Aloe Vera cream from the health / natural shop when my DS suffered from nappy rash it was the more conventional rash though. Just an idea.

sudacrem. It works like magic!

it could be thrush, for which sudocream etc won't work.

I don't know what it might be but my dd suffered from terrible sore bottom which would bleed if her nappy wasn't changed within minutes of poo being done. Sudacream didn't work and I seem to remember having to use some kind of steroidal thing which also had very limited success. I was in a terrible state about it all as unlike you, my dd was obviously in a bit of pain with it. My sis lives in Oz and she sent over some paw paw ointment, this is miracle stuff, you put a tiny bit on and within an hour the bottom is totally clear. It is totally natural and good for all matter of things. You get it in the supermarket in Oz and its what the mw's give you there for cracked nipples and all sorts. You couldn't get it here at all when dd needed it which I found quite bizarre given how good it is. Fortunately my ds's bum is made of stronger stuff and I haven't needed anything but I happened to look yesterday and there is a company selling the stuff here - if you search for paw paw ointment you'll find it. I've just ordered a big tub just in case.
