My son took on another mans child 15 months ago. The baby only knows my son as his dad. No fathers details are on the birth certificate.
Can the baby's mum stop my son having access??

Yes. Your son has no legal rights to this child and doesn't have parental responsibility unfortunately. I'm so sorry he's in this position.

I would have thought he has no parental rights to the child as he is not the father. I am not legally trained just my opinion.

Have they split up, then?

If they have, your son has no rights over the child.

How old is the child?

Holibob24 · 16/04/2024 13:35

15 months. My son was there throughout the pregnancy.
basically they fell out, she slept with an ex and later found out she was pregnant. I thought that maybe because she has allowed my son to parent this little one since finding out she was pregnant that she’d given him parental rights. He’s paid for little man’s upkeep.

She can't give your son parental rights. Only a court can do that.

Why didn't the mother claim child maintenance from the actual father of the baby? Your son should not have paid towards the baby.
