6-month old baby has been pooing a lot in the last 4 days

EBF baby, who we just started introducing to food a couple of weeks ago (very gradually, one puréed fruit or veg or veg stick at a time) has gone from pooing once a day-once every 3 days to pooing 10 + times in a 24 hour window. She woke up at 1 am on several nights to do three poos. That seems to have now shifted to 6 am. Some of these poos are green. She is not overtly distressed/arching her back but she is fussier than normal and doing a lot of comfort sucking. I wondered if weaning (although she’s hardly eating anything), teething (nhs says there’s no evidence but a lot of people seem to have experienced this), or a tummy bug/virus. We took her to the GP who felt her tummy and felt her temperature. She was very fussy and screamed through it but he said it’s normal and should pass — and to come back if she stops eating/passing wet nappies. A bit worried and also exhausted changing so many nappies and dealing with a cranky baby.

Sounds like it could be a bug but I'd stop offering the purées first a couple of days to give her gut a chance to recover.

Is there a reason you're weaning with one fruit or veg at a time? Just wondering as that's only recommended first LO's who are likely to have extreme allergies Wink

if it’s a bug how long do these things tend to last? She’s been so grumpy and I am so looking forward to the return of her happy giggly self. One fruit/veg at a time was the recommendation in the NHS booklet we received!

That's weird. According to this NHS page you only need to introduce foods containing known allergens, like peanuts, one at a time. Everything else is ok from 6 months. I wonder what booklet you have been given? Sounds like how babies were weaned in the last century when they were weaned much earlier Wink
