My little girl is 5 weeks old she is on comfort food for her reflux and seems to be settling on it the odd spit up after bottles and runny nappies which I’m told is normal cos she is on comfort food but health nurse think we should trial the Aptimal pepti but I don’t think she has a cows milk allergy as she no other symptoms but she does have reflux

The symptoms of cmpa can be quite nondescript. Reflux can be enough to trigger a trial of dairy free formula. I would accept it tbh.
My daughter was diagnosed based on reflux and being unsettled but this didn't start until 8-10 weeks. It was only later when her stool changed that I realised that she had also been having loose mucus stools.

So my little man is now 12 week old. When he was born I he really struggled to keep anything down. We tried changing formula, anti reflux formula until the gp but him on a hydrolysed formula then eventually amino acid formula. We add carobel to this to thicken as it's really thin. Now he's with a dietitian who advised me to try reintroducing dairy as a lot of his symptoms are still there while not on dairy. I added 1 scoop to his bottles for 3 days and he seemed fussy and his poo was a little runny, however at the same time he had just had tongue tie cut. I originally thought it's clearly upset his tummy but now I'm questioning if they was the case at all or if his tongue was hurting him.He still has a cough and is snuffly which I thought was due to dairy but think it's due to acid reflux. I wonder if I should try again with dairy on maybe a comfort formula or something. He is not a huge fan of the amino acid formula and sometimes refused bottles making it super hard to feed him when we are out and about because he gets really worked up. Any experience or advice welcome thanks

@Amyhal13 my little girl had bad reflux from birth she was in hospital two times with it they gave us gaviscon for her bottles which helped a little but the doctor advised us to try comfort food which she is on nearly two weeks but seems more settled on it for now she does still spit up after every other bottle and has runny nappies. She also has a tongue tie which I’m going to look into getting cut. My nurse wants us to trial the aptimal pepti but I’m going to speak to my doctors first as I don’t think it’s cmpa but acid reflux.

@Eleary sounds exactly how my little boy was he is definitely more settled now but I can't help but feel it's the carobel there stopped him being sick with his feeds not the milk. I just don't want to stop him having dairy if it's not a true allergy. I have an appointment today with a paediatrician so I'll see what they say about it. I've also contacted the dietitian to see if it would be ok to do the milk challenge again with a comfort formula. I know they say lactose intolerance is rare in babies but if that was true surely they wouldn't created comfort milk with reduced lactose.
