Just wondering as hardly any kids in DC’s class in clubs or camps. We have grandparents helping & I have taken some annual leave but still needed to do some camps.

So for us (private school so 3 weeks off)

  • 5 days parents taking annual leave
  • One day bank holiday (Easter Monday)
  • 5 days camp
  • 4 days grandparents

We only have two weeks off to manage thankfully! Last week we had the bank holiday, I took two days of AL and my parents had DS the other two days. This week it's holiday club at his school. There are quite a few of his friends there but I feel strangely bad about sending him there. We don't really have a choice to do a lack of AL but I feel guilty that he's not just getting to hang out at home.

We have 3 and a half weeks (also a private school). Luckily I work 3 days a week so she did holiday club 2 days the first week (one day was the Friday bank holiday), home with me the other days, next week she did 3 days holiday club (home with me the other days), 3rd week my husband and I both taking annual leave and the 4th week (inset day) I'm on annual leave. She's not yet 4 so in the preschool (starting Reception in September) so next year we'll hopefully use grandparents a bit but she feels a bit young now to stay with them without us!

We had 2 weeks with the bank holidays in the middle so:

Monday - DD kept herself busy while I worked from home
Tuesday, Wed, Thurs - holiday club
Fri and Mon - bank holiday, all off work/school
Tues, Wed, Thurs - holiday club
Fri - with her gran and had a sleepover.

Luckily we have a really good holiday club, expensive but well worth it so week 1 they did a 3 day target sports activity set - axe throwing, air rifles, archery, with bits of bushcraft and kayaking to fill in any gaps in the day. Week 2 was climbing, abseiling, kayaking, bell boats, raft building and bushcraft.
