2.5 year old head butting

My two and a half year old likes to headbutt people when he gets very excited. Today at softplay, he was chasing another little boy around and getting very giddy and excited but when he “caught” the other little boy he sort of just fell on him and started to head bang against him. He sometimes does it at home with me when playing rough and if he’s overexcited playing with his baby sister.

He is delayed a little in his speech and is only just starting to join words together and I know head banging can be a sign of autism but most things I’ve read say it’s most likely to occur during a meltdown or tantrum. My DS only ever does it when getting really excited when playing. Just wondering if anyone has had a child that does this and whether they grew out of it?

It's super normal - don't worry.
