21 month old taking a long time to fall asleep at bedtime

Toddler used to take 10-20 mins to fall asleep at bedtime but in the last few weeks it now takes 30-45 mins, despite pushing bedtime back. We’ve also cut his nap from 1.5 hours to 1.25 hours but it’s not made a difference. I’ll probably try cutting his nap to an hour. Bedtime is normally around 5.5 hours after waking up from
nap - is this too short?

Typical schedule:
6:30am wake up
1pm: Nap for 1-1.25 hours
7:45pm: Bedtime

Anyone have any other ideas or this just normal once they get a bit older?

Afternoon wake period should be longer than the morning one. Trying moving the nap earlier.

@Hoplittlebunnyhophophopandstop He won’t nap any earlier, he started putting up a fight for that too so I moved it later, which helped a bit.

It wasn’t far off this age we had to drop the nap completely. Exactly the same issue. The nap was becoming so late in the day that bedtime was becoming very late and overall sleep actually decreased as he still had to be up in the morning. We clung on to half a hour at 2pm for too long and it was such a nightmare as he was so grumpy being woken and it ruined the afternoon. Started sleeping 12-13h solid at night as soon as it was gone.

It maybe nearly time to drop the nap all together.
