My daughter will be 14 in a month, for the past month or so she has become very tearful and lack of appetite and not sleeping very well, she feels down a lot of the time. Is this normal hormones or is it worth going to the doctors, there isn’t any issues at school or with friends etc, we have a good relationship and she’s talked about problems before but this time she can’t put her finger on it, she hasn’t started her period yet I’m thinking it’s a sign it’s on it’s way?

The lack of appetite and not sleeping well aren’t especially typical of adolescence and might indicate depression. A month isn’t long though, can she say what’s up?
