My 2yo has had a cold and cough for 7 weeks

Anyone else going through this hell? It's literally no better, horrible cough, constant snot. She doesn't go to nursery so can't blame that. Been to the docs twice over the last few weeks to check her chest, he picked up on an ear infection but he said they don't give AB's for that anymore.

I'm a FTM so maybe it's normal? She's just really sick of it now - as I would be if I were her - and she had an especially crabby day today. Before this she's only been ill a handful of times. Gearing myself for another night of cuddles and calpol.

Is it definitely a cold? My son has atopic asthma, when he is having a flare up he has a runny nose (allergic rhinitis) and a constant cough. The runny nose is clear with rhinitis. You could try Piriton to rule out allergy? It could also be viral asthma which is even more common but Piriton wouldn't stop the symptoms, a blue inhaler would relieve the cough though if you know anyone who has one you could try.
