Can't burp baby

LO is nearly 6 weeks and always been difficult to burp, he just screams in pain when we try. Sometimes it comes out straight away but not very often.

We were feeding him upright (as is the advice for a windy baby) and burping sitting on knee but then my mum came round today and fed him more at a 45 degree angle and burped over shoulder with no issues at all that I wondered if we've been doing it wrong.

So I tried but as soon as I put him over shoulder nothing but screams, planking and squirming - he's obviously in real pain. He ended up doing a poo so I put it down to that but then just tried again and the same.

I really don't know what to do we've not tried any medication until I see health visitor on Wednesday

When I had my eldest daughter she had really bad colic - apparently they can have it for the first 3 months (if things haven't changed in the last 20 years). I was at the end of my tether because she never stopped crying. Don't know if your baby has colic but one day I went to my aunt's house and she laid her on her lap, face down (face hanging over the side of her leg) and just rubbed her back for a while. It obviously did the trick because it was the first time she actually stopped crying! I could've cried myself. Worth a try? X

Tiger in tree position. I would just watch different winding techniques on youtube and try them all out.

See the community nurse next visit seek advice re feeding bottles that avoid colic

We found a few months ago that moving the having around like the above FM stated and generally turning over, side to side worked but we too have experienced this with our most recent GC

Do speak, call comm-nurses I think they are called, ie the ones that visit a few times to see baby is well

Watching!! My 7 week old is the same, she is full of wind all the time !! This is my third baby so it's definitely not our winding techniques - I'm sure she has a wind chamber somewhere where she stores it all !!
