5 week old leg twitching when nappy changing- anyone else?

My DS is 5 weeks old and since birth (I think) he has flexed and twitched his legs (think like a dog after doing a wee) when I take his legs out of a sleepsuit to change his nappy, take his nappy off or if he is particularly distressed/hungry.

I don't remember my daughter doing this yet I've always thought random jerkiness was normal in newborns but I've made the mistake of googling it and have now convinced myself that there's something underlying going on and these are tremors so wondering if anyone else can share whether their children have done this when newborn?! They do stop if I put my hand on his leg.

@miniworry - I could have written this post. My DD is 6 weeks and has the same thing at exactly the same times. I actually had to double check the author of the post as I thought I may have written it in a dream as it’s so similar to my concern. I have spoken to a paediatrician and a GP in person and a Hv over the phone. All have said they think it’s fine and nothing to worry about as it generally stops when you hold her leg. I can’t deny it freaks me out and really triggers me when it happens which is several times a day. The GP said it should just stop as she gets older but it just has me worried as she is quite a flaily child and her arms and legs go everywhere especially when she has gas.
please keep me posted on how your LO is doing and try take a video and show to HV/Doc if you need to xxx

@whatsgoingon22 we are currently in hospital as my DS has meningitis and since I posted this I asked the paediatric doctor about it and he said it is normal newborn behaviour if it stops when you put your hand on it. I hope that helps ❤️
