My 9 week old son has been congested in the early morning and some days since 3 weeks old. Initially I suspected a cold or even 2 colds back to back (we have a 3 year old who was snotty) but it has now been running on so long. Doctor at 8 week check was not concerned and no help. He feeds well and settles well at night but come 4am, he is so congested he struggles to breathe and I hold him upright for the rest of the morning. We have his bed tilted, I have used a humidifier and also infant olbas on occasion but I am wary to use as not recommended until 3 months.
Anyway I am now wondering if this is general congestion (C-section baby) that will go away on its own or potentially an allergy like cmpa which can cause congestion. Only other symptom is that he has had gunky eyes which doctor said might be mild conjunctivitis but this is improving with salt water. CMPA seems a leap as generally he is a very settled baby apart from this but maybe?
Any advice or thoughts would be gratefully received. So hard heating him struggle to breathe in early hours but thankfully it clears when upright. 4am start is tough when you have a 3 year old to look after as well.
