Help please - congestion etc

Hello everyone,

My little boy is currently 11 weeks old and at 3 weeks old, he had lots of symptoms of reflux such as heaving etc. GP agreed and thought he had silent reflux so told us to change to anti reflux milk which we did but this caused him to have severe constipation and even on the max dose of lactulose for his age, he was constantly constipated and had screaming fits of pain every time he tried to have a poo. He has also been congested since around 2 weeks of age.

The GP then suggested a cows milk allergy and prescribed Aptimil Pepti 1. However since changing to this, his poos are now just like water and each one like an explosion. He is also now writhing around in what seems like discomfort when feeding, has hiccups constantly when feeding/after feeding and his congestion is worse than ever.

We have tried many things for his congestion (cool mist humidifier, saline drops, water sprays, aspiration, tilted his crib, snufflebabe oil on a flannel over a radiator etc) but nothing at all his helping and if anything it seems to be getting worse. He’s not even particularly snotty at all but is just very congested. This is the main thing that I am bothered about as I’m scared he will choke etc due to it.

Any advice/guidance would be so great.

Congestion is a symptom of CMPA so I doubt a calpol plug in etc is going to do much. They often try it first but Pepti still contains lactose, just broken down. Rather than looking for cold treatments I would go back to the GP and ask about Neocate.

Thank you. We have a GP appointment at 6.50 so hopefully they’ll change his milk to that. I’ll try anything at this point as the congestion is the worst symptom he has.

Have they had a good look? Eldest had overlarge adenoids and tonsils. Her first symptom was congestion. One of her brothers similarly cannot breath through his nose, but I'm his case it hasn't required correction.
