Congested baby

My baby boy is 10 weeks old and is suffering with a blocked nose every morning for the last week. I have a humidifier on at night with the snuffle baby oil in. I’ve tried air purifier. And neither seem to be helping. Once his nose is clear he’s fine for the rest of the day. My issue is his bogeys are so dry blocking his nose when he wakes up and he is obviously distressed I am having to use saline every morning to loosen them and then bulb syringe them out. I’m worried I’m causing damage by spraying saline up there every day but I don’t know how else to loosen them. I’ve tried sucking them out without the saline but it doesn’t work. Any suggestions or reassurance that saline won’t be causing any harm with prolonged use?

Hi, get a Snufflebabe nasal aspirator. I got mine from boots.

Aww bless it’s so mean when they’ve got a blocked nose. We’ve used the saline spray quite a bit and my LO has been okay, done the same as you and used snuffle baby and the calpol plug ins when needed. The Asda baby vapour bubble bath is good too.

I think using them once a day for a week or 2 won’t cause any damage.

Does your LO have reflux? Mine had reflux and until that was sorted he used to get so congested x

So horrid! Ah ok good to know. I have an irrational fear that I’m going to be taking his smelling ability away 😅didnt know about the bubble bath! Will give that a go thanks!

Oh he does! It was originally silent reflux but recently has started spitting up a lot more. He gets hiccups every morning also. How did you sort the reflux?

Aw bless! Took him to the GP who gave us some medication (I think lansoprazole but don’t quote me) and he was a new baby after that!
we struggled for so long before I even thought to see the GP. Could be worth a go.
