i don't let dd watch alot of tv (she's 21 months) but she is obsessed with dorothy in the wizard of oz, she would watch it every day if i let her.

when i tell some people they say doesn't it scare her. obviously if it did i wouldn't let her watch it.

i put mary poppins on for her the other day but her bottom lip dropped and her eyes started to fill up and all she kept saying was dorothy. she even puts the dvd in the player. does anyone think that this is an inappropriate film for a 21 month old.

DS watches (and LOVES) the backyardigans, but also developed an unhealthy interest in the sopranos (we have BT vision, so i'd record it and watch it the morning after).
i noticed that he'd climb up on the sofa and sit rapt as soon as he heard the sopranos theme. Now, while i can't criticise his excellent taste in drama, i didn't fancy him threatening one of his nursery chums with a concrete-related death after a spat over a toy one day, so i stopped watching it with him.
however, i don't think the wizard of oz is that bad.....like DS (18 months) your dd is too young to take in ay scary bits, and probably just watches the "sunnier" aspects.
don't worry....what's the worst she can repeat/be scared by?
if she likes it, what the hell......it'll be something else soon, anyway.

Sound of Music - he loves it. He has fallen for Julie Andrews big time....
