Gaviscon infant when being sick?

Hi
My son who is 17 months old, hasn't been well since Monday, he has a cold, sore throat and is being sick twice a day (earlier in the week it was 3 or 4 times a day), he's also waking up crying through the night (last night he wasnt too bad though). He didnt eaten any of his meals yesterday and would only eat a few crisps and a little biscotti rusk. But hes had some bottles of whole milk. He doesn't have a temperature.
I went to the doctors yesterday and she said she thought it was something viral.
So she only prescribed some Gaviscon infant, he had a bottle with it in and puked that up. And he had his bottle before bed with it in and puked that up too.

But i was looking at the leaflet again and realised it says Do Not Use Gaviscon infant if your child is being sick, has a fever or diarrhoea. Is he supposed to actually have it when he's being sick?.
