Crying/pain/grunting everyday from 5am

Baby boy is 7 weeks and quite content in general.
Since birth he has settled well at night but woke early for the day approx 5am and won't go down again for a while.

For the past week, he has began grunting really loudly at around 5am then escalates to crying in pain, arching his back, looks like he is trying to poo. He farts a lot but this is extra (he is cmpa on rice milk) he cannot be comforted.

Has anyone experienced this and is there anything we can do?
We are burping in the night feeds and sitting up for a little while after .

Have you tried tummy massage and peddling his legs for a prolonged period, to see if that eases the wind?
