I just need some advice guys, my son who is 4months old on the 29th of this month has a temperature of 35.8 degrees(in the ear).
I'm not sure if it's normal or not! It's not usually like that, he hasn't been to bad to today he has been him self but his last bottle he left a bit, I'm just not to sure!

A high temperature or fever is usually considered to be a temperature of 38C or above.... what exactly are you worried about?

The underarm thermometers are generally more accurate than the in-ear ones too.

Isn't it a little on the low side? X

Once this is resolved take your babies temperature. It is helpful to know what is normal for your child. Not every one has exactly the same temperature.

Is he cold?

He's face is yes, and he's chest is colder then usual but not excessively cold, he has a blanket on and a dressing gown!

Take the temperature again.

Gringlewald · 21/03/2024 21:20

Probs obvious point but worth checking everyone in the house’s temp to see if thermometer is calibrated correctly.

Are you using a tommee tippee thermometer? Mine was reading cooler than it should

He's is still showing 35.8 and I've checked mine and it's showing 37

I'd ring 111 as he's so little.

one of mine had a temp of 34.6 and the caller didn't believe me which pissed me off. But they were okay iirc and older than four months.

36-37 is normal so he is only just below that. As long as he is in warm stuff it sounds like he will be absolutely fine.

Cdoc · 21/03/2024 22:25

I have the Braun one and it records a different temperature in my 12m baby depending on how you angle it in his ear, very often it will say high 35’s, move it and take again and it’s mid 36’s which is normal for him. I do think at this young age the under arm ones are much more accurate!
