My little girl will start school this August at age 5. I work as a teacher in a secondary school and am astounded by the drop in standards in recent years and the general state of education in my LA in Scotland. We do have a private school option in the area where class sizes are around 10 pupils per class with an assistant versus 30 per class mostly without an assistant. It seems obvious that private would be better but it is costly. Any Scottish primary teachers here that can comment on the education received in the early years? Are there really around 37% of pupils with ASN? Is it even remotely manageable to teach 30 with so many needs?
