No to sleep schedules?

I have a 5 week old baby, I know it’s too soon yet but starting to read about sleep schedules. There’s so much about schedules, but I’m keen to hear stories from people who DON’T follow a schedule and how you’ve found it, what works for you, what are the challenges?

We didn't and I won't lie, sleep was HARD for quite a while.

Many factors contributed though, some carers one day a week really struggled to get her to take a bottle, which impacted the amount she fed overnight and had a knock on impact for the next few days. I also just found them WAY too restrictive.

DD started sleeping through at around 15 months 1-2 times a week. Now at 22 months she sleeps through nearly every night, but even more importantly (for us anyway) we know she can nap anywhere and is pretty flexible on when and where she has her naps. She does fight naps when she's really tired, but we wanted flexibility and that is the price. We have many ways to get her to fall asleep and I think we're really in tune with her needs as a result.

No sleep schedule, I follow babies cues.

Some days are hard as she'll fight it, other days she can be sleepy.
I find school runs the hardest if she's awake incase she starts screaming for a bottle 🙈
And I also find telling myself this job can wait till she's asleep, but I'm a need it done then and there person so if she's fighting it I stress myself out abit. Need to remember all jobs can wait.

With my first I remember him falling into a proper bottle/sleep routine around 3 month, I let him take the lead as I got sick of worrying that he should be sleeping x at x time etc. and googling done my head in haha.
