I want to have a go at making some training pants for DS1 but can only find a pattern for training pants with poppers on - I want to make some that are more pant-like IYKWIM...

Are either of these any good for you?

www.newconceptions.com/trainingpants.htm

www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/images/WeeWeka_Knickers.pdf

The second one is a PDF.

Oh thank you, I hadn't come across the first ones when I was searching, they look just the job - I suppose that I can stretch to $13 .

$13! Hadn't seen that bit!

That had better be a good pattern

I know! Exactly how many pairs of pants do you think that I will have to sew to make that economical?

Have you tried googling using the word diaper instead of training pants?

The USA seems to have more resources for this kind of thing. (Well, everything's bigger over there isn't it )

try this

or this

Washersaurus - I still can't the image I have of you surrounded by piles of clean laundry out of my head and now I seem to have added an extra image of you up all night sewing training pants.

I think you are secretly a domestic goddess and supermum.....

I can't believe you are still looking for me , thank you. I found they are mostly listed as 'trainers'.

I came across those sites on my searches. The last one looked really good...but they never actually uploaded the pattern to the blog by the looks of it

Haha BBM, if only

You should be thinking more along the lines of that deranged, straggly haired, shouty woman that you would tend to avoid at mother and baby groups

Oh no, I thought it would be fairly easy to sew some pants, once a suitable pattern is located...am I mistaken?

The deranged, straggly haired shouty woman often avoided at M&B groups etc is me .

I don't know how easy it will be tbh. I didn't use a pattern, just cut up an old nappy to investigate how it went togther then went on to make a total disaster which resembled a sort of bamboo fabric roadkill of unidentified origin .

My friend made some fab nappies using a pattern. I think the only tricky bit is the elastic but if you have a good pattern I reckon you'll be fine

Actually, I DID get around to doing some proper hard-core cleaning today (dusting and everything); the first time I have managed that in aaaages .

My sewing machine is on the blink at the moment. DH informs me it is through my lack of routine cleaning and maintenance. I am going to have to take it apart and oil it and stuff before I start another project.
