Co sleeping hell

Hi, 6mo baby can sleep independently for first stretch 7-11pm and puts himself to sleep independently in cot for first stretch and morning nap but after his first wake up at night he Co sleeps. I say co sleep but he just wants to nurse ALL night. Whenever I unlatch him, he screams and claws at my chest.

Going to try stopping BFing at night and husband give bottles and put back down in cot. Any other suggestions??

DH could try cosleeping with him.

Have you got a spare bed?

You sleep in that, he sleeps in usual bed with your partner.

Yes absolutely could try that when he moves to bottles. Do you think it’s unrealistic for him to sleep all night in his cot given he sleeps there so successfully for naps and his first stretch of nighttime sleep?
i wonder if I’m getting in his way of sleeping more by cosleeping with him

Don't see why not since he's happily sleeping there already at other times.

We did the 'pause' method - where you pause for a few seconds when they start to stir and wait to see if they are hungry. Half the time ours would settle back into sleep without us needing to do anything (feed, nappy etc). I think cosleeping might mean he just feeds whether he's hungry or not.

But with the proviso that I've never coslept!

DD was in one of those cribs that attaches to the side of the bed for the first six months, then a cot in her own room.

Are they in their own room yet? If not try that. If they are already are we broke the pattern of Co sleeping by putting a mattress on the floor next to the cot. And would resettle by lying next to the cot and hold hand or rub chest etc through cot bars. Obviously fed first if you think they need a feed.
