My ds is 3 years 4 months and only has a few words and a couple of two word phases. Been referred but still on wait list and had his hearing checked. I'm at the point now where I feel like he's just never going to talk. He starts school next year and I feel so worried for him

Hi this was our granddaughter when she started school nursery. She was on a wait list for a while, when she did see a speech therapist who didn't think it was an issue and thought being around other children would bring on her speech. It did, although for a couple of years she was hard to understand if you didn't know her but she's now 7 and her speech is the same as her peers. One of her other classmates from nursery had speech delay too although his was different and he did have to see a speech therapist on a regular basis and like dgd he is fine now. Adult dd and the other boys mum bonded over this and neither child had any problems with either the teachers or other classmates or bullying and are both thriving in y3.
