Food before/after childminders - what's your routine??

My DS is 2.5 and wakes up around 6.30, has a snack and then goes to the childminder at 7.30 for breakfast. We give him a mix of organic oat bar, fruit, bread sticks and/or oatcakes. He always wants a plain digestive (which we give in to sometimes). He always eats all his breakfast at the childminders, no matter what snack he's had beforehand!

He has a proper meal at lunch there and then for dinner at about 5ish I usually give him beans on toast, omelette or a sandwich. He will sometimes eat pasta but he is never really fussed on a big dinner.

What does everyone else do before childminders/nursery? I feel like I'm not giving him enough balance or too much sugar, so what do you do?!?

What you're doing sounds fine to me.

If you want to cut sugar I'd lose the oaty bar and replace with porridge/toast with peanut butter/veggie sticks and houmous/eggs. If he's hungry when he wakes up just give him breakfast rather than snacks.

Dinner sounds fine too. You could give him a picky plate because it's quick.and easy to prepare and easier to offer a wide range of foods. You could also try soup and toast. Or just cook a little extra dinner when you do yours and warm it up for him to have the next night. If he's having a good breakfast and lunch though then a light tea is absolutely fine.
