Best time to change a newborn

Hello!

Apologies if this is the wrong topic for this thread I'm looking for some advice re nappy changing for a newborn.

My baby is 6 days old. I'm trying to change after a feed while he is still awake but as soon as I put the new nappy on he poops again - sometimes I have to do three changes in a row. The midwife said it's sometime best to wait 30 mins after a feed to change but by then he's always asleep again and I've read you're not supposed to wake a sleeping baby to change their nappy...

Anyone have any advice on this??

Thanks so much in advance!

I never changed on a schedule just waited till the nappy was wet or dirty and changed it then.

Change pre feed, they complain a bit but then they can bob back off to sleep no problem post feed.
yes ideally don’t wake them!
