Hi my son 3yrs old was prescribed antibiotics bec he has a very bad cold and now has rashes all over body so worried about scarlet fever or strep through

He's been given antibiotics but tried to give him with juice he recognised the bad taste and spat everything out so
I doubt he took any down

What should I do give him more or wait and any tips to give him the medicine

How good is he at understanding? Would he understand that if he takes the medicine he can have chocolate or a biscuit straightaway? Might work better if you show him the treat and have it handy Wink

At that age I would have drink ready straight away and that always worked smoothly. Both mine are anti biotics now but they got the “nice” stuff. Some are so awful I’m not surprised they spit it out but try the drink thing we would have to “gee” her up and say brave girl , this will make you better etc but got easier as the course went on

What antibiotic is it?

Amoxicillin I'd mix with some strawberry yoghurt or something.

Flucloxacillin you'll have to just pin him down, or ask the GP for something else. That stuff is truly truly vile and I doubt you could bribe a child to willingly swallow it.
