Baby suddenly not sleeping

My baby is 8+4 weeks old, and her nighttime sleeping has suddenly gotten worse. Last week she’d started sleeping stretches of 4-5 hours (which was an absolute godsend!) but as of Monday she’s back to eating every 3 hours throughout the night (she is exclusively breastfed). We haven’t changed anything about her routine so I have no idea why this has happened. Anyone else experience this around 8 weeks?! Any tips?

It is totally normal and there are no tips. Your baby may be going through a growth spurt or just needing more comfort.

4-5 hours in a row was excellent so don’t feel bad this has changed. A baby’s sleep pattern isn’t linear, there will be lots of ups and downs before they sleep through so just go with it and don’t get hung up on how many hours they sleep. Just sleep when they do to maximise what you get.

My baby is 10 weeks old, and same thing happening here. Getting to 4 hours was a massive improvement so to go backwards is hard but I know it's totally normal. You just have to ignore those who are gloating and saying their 2 month olds are sleeping through!!

We have a 9 week old and I’ve come to the conclusion there’s no rhyme or reason.

We’ve never had stretches longer than 3 hours, then suddenly since 3 days ago we’ve got up to 5 hour stretches.

Done nothing differently - I’m jealous you were getting longer stretches as early as you were!

Hopefully you get them back soon!
