UC and childcare

I am applying to UC and I need to place my daughter in nursery so I can start working. However, I am not sure where I will be putting her yet. If I continue the application without including childcare costs and update my journal later when she starts nursery, will I be able to still get paid for the first month I paid in full alone? Also, if so, would that money drop with the following UC payment?

You can only claim for childcare through UC if you are in employment.

If you don't have a job yet, ask your UC work coach about upfront childcare costs for the first month.

You will be able to report your childcare provider and costs after the claim has started.

@Thejackrussellsrule I already have work set up and will be starting soon. I just need to sort out this nursery situation. I know I will be able to claim help with the nursery if I start work within 2 months. I was just wondering if I continue my application without inputting nursery details if it will be backdated for the one month I paid upfront

You can retrospectively add the childcare provider and what you have paid, you will need to provide proof of payment. You can only claim back childcare if you have started work though, so if you've paid upfront for the month, you won't get the money back in advance, you'll get the following assessment period.

If you haven't already paid it, ask your UC work coach about the upfront childcare costs, then the jobcentre pay the first month, you claim 85 % of the cost back towards the following month.

I'm sure it says online it can be backdated up to 3 months as long as you upload the proof of payment for nursery.
