Bed help

I have a DC 2 years and 6 months and also 9 month old. I purchased a cot bed for DC1 which is now used as a bed without the sides. DC2 is currently in a next to me and starting to pull herself up so I'm now looking to get her moved into a bigger bed but I'm really stuck on what to do.

I was originally going to purchase the same cot bed as DC1 but after looking at the prices I thought I would maybe be better getting DC1 a toddler bed and giving the cot bed to DC2.

DC1 turns 3 in 5 months and now I'm worrying that would purchasing a cot bed now be a waste of money if I will then have to move her into a proper bed.

I'm off on maternity at the moment so just trying to work out what would be the best cost effective idea.

TIA

I would get a single bed for dc1 and use the cotbed for dc2

@dementedpixie this could be an option although I would have to measure as we are currently overcrowded so both children are still in my room. Been on the waiting list for over a year and also looking to buy but planning on taking whatever comes first in order for DC to have their own space.

We've gone for a single bed for the three year old so that the cot bed will be available for the baby when the time comes.

A single bed for the 3 year old would probably be the most cost effective option long term.
However if you don't have the space, want to save money and need a more short term solution then you could buy a second hand toddler bed and a new mattress or a travel cot for the baby with a proper mattress in.
