Toddler has pale BMs

My toddler (21 months) started with what I assume was a stomach bug last Saturday, vomiting, poor appetite, watery diarrhea. He's not been sick since Tuesday, at first he had a few days of very watery diarrhea but normal colour. Since Friday he has had very pale diarrhea although not as watery. He is eating a bit more now but not as much as usual. No fevers or other worrying symptoms. He's okay in himself and not unwell on the surface. Just a bit whiney.. I've drive myself crazy, I I tend to try and get him in to the GP Monday if no changes. I'm scared he's unwell with his liver or something die to the pale stools. Or is this usual after some kind of stomach bug?

My 2 have both had/have the exact same. Eldest (3) had probably about a week on and off and they were very pale too but fully back to normal colour and consistency now. Youngest (1) is on about day 5 of diarrhoea but it is improving and his last one looked a bit darker so I'm hoping he's getting over it now too. There's been a lot of d&v at our nursery lately, I think it's just a nasty bug and has certainly lingered more than the typical 24hrs or so for us anyway. Mine had maybe a few days off food but have been otherwise absolutely fine so I haven't been too worried by the time it started to clear up. I'd give it a few more days before contacting GP if he's ok in himself still 😊

Hi OP my 5 year old had the same a few weeks ago- bad stomach bug then a few days of grey/white creamy stools. Took him to GP who said he would only be concerned if stools were red or black. He told me to give Dioralyte and it did clear up thank God after a few days. Given your DS had had a bug I would think it’s related to that. I think there is definitely something going round.

Hopefully it will clear up soon and your DS feels a lot better.

My toddler often has pale stools for a few days to a week after an infection or cold, but if it goes on for more than a few days I’d give your GP a call just to be safe as it can be sign of something serious in some situations

There's norovirus going on where we live. DD's diarrhoea ended and since then it's pale.
