My 7 yo ds has had this rash on his ear since Tuesday.

He has had a vomiting bug recently and a cough too which is finally going away. He is back to being himself now and at school again.

It looks like a cold sore, is that all it is?

Looks like impetigo to me.

Could it be impetigo? Anything similar around his mouth?

Hmmm, it’s an in a strange place but yes it does look like what I get on my lip/nose/upper lip from time to time.
I keep the virus under control with zinc supplements. Works well for me and I rarely get them now after a life time of suffering.

Yes! Can't believe I didn't think of impetigo. He has had a few isolated spots on his face. We suspected chicken pox for a short while but then it didn't spread. Never thought impetigo affected earlobes. His immune system must be fairly low. Will organise antibiotic cream now.
