We went to the doctors yesterday because of this , he said it was impetigo and started oral antibiotics he's had two doses since.

It's worse this morning than yesterday etc , do I need to wait longer for them to kick in or should the doses have calmed it down ???

I'm worried sick 🫠
Is it definitely impetigo ??? Do I need to go back to the doctors ??

Draw a dotted line around and watch it for spreading.

I've no idea but the poor wee thing, it looks very raw! My newborn came home from the hospital with it...

I think I'd call the GP again as we're heading into the weekend.

Hmm. DS had impetigo and it was awful for him, but IMO it looked different to your son's issue. I can see the shared similarity in a sense it is a red patch and has the yellow rim, but that's not necessarily impetigo. For my DS it wasn't one large patch, it was spread over larger parts of his body and started off as what looked like spotty rash, then eczema, then nasty red patches eventually with yellow rims.

To me this looks like a more local issue but it looks very angry and raw. I'd definitely be concerned too & take him back now, this looks like a developing infection and the antibiotics aren't working. What is he on now?

Good advice re circling it and watching the spread as well.

How is he in himself? What is his temp? Is he eating, drinking, toileting as normal? Dizzy/confused? Pale appearance? Tiredness? Faster breathing?
